Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? After winning my first ever hockey game as a kid, my parents took me to a restaurant where they served classic fair food along with malts and shakes. My parents got me one of the largest chocolate shakes they had. But after finishing my glass I tried to pour some more from the serving container and ended up spilling it all over myself. To this day my mom still brings it up every time we go to that restaurant.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My mom is definitely the person I identify most with. We share a lot of the same mannerisms and activities that we like and always get along well. When I was younger, she taught me a lot about how to be a good person and I think it’s helped me turn out alright.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Honesty is definitely a big one. I think a lot of things in life go better just by being honest. Also, humility is something else that in my opinion is nice to see because it lets me know the other person can feel just as embarrassed or human as I can.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Probably repeating the story from my childhood about the milkshake spilling all over myself about 10 years later. My lesson apparently hadn’t been learned.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Japan is at the top of that list. I think the culture there is so unique. Being respectful is a big thing for them and I think it shows up in a lot of the places there. The nature and wildlife there is so cool to me.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I ‘d want them to know that it’s ok for them to be their own person and follow their own ambition. There was a long time in my life where I had someone telling me the opposite and it’s something I hope my future children never have to hear.
