What is your most memorable childhood experience? | It was a cold winter day with snow everywhere outside. I was probably only 5 years old at most. I had been playing outside, and I was cold, so I burst back inside the house and ran into the living room where my mom was sitting by the fireplace cozy in a chair. I ran into her arms, and I have never felt happier or safer than I did in that moment. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I identify the most with my dad. I feel as though a lot of my personality and outlook on the world have come from him. We are similar in a lot of ways, and I recognize and appreciate that. I make a conscious effort, though, to retain his positive characteristics and at least attempt to shed his negative ones. That's something I think about a lot as I go through my life. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I admire the character trait of curiosity. I admire someone who is always asking questions about the world around them and doesn't take things at face value. I would also say thoughtfulness. I admire someone who is considerate of others and respectful of their time. Lastly, I would mention creativity. I admire someone who puts new and interesting things out into the world rather than only consumes things that already exist. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | One time in class, I was quietly munching on some snacks, trying to be discreet, but at the exact moment the room went silent, I accidentally let out the loudest crunch imaginable. The whole class, including the professor, turned to look at me, and I just sat there frozen, with a chip halfway to my mouth. The absurdity of the timing had everyone, including myself, cracking up. It was one of those moments where the laughter was contagious, and it turned into an inside joke in the class for the rest of the semester. |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I would love to travel to Japan. I would be really excited to experience the culture and enjoy the food. Japan from afar feels like a different genre of the world and I'm interested in seeing what that's about. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I would like to pass onto them the character traits that I mentioned admiring in an individual, curiosity, thoughtfulness, and creativity. I would like my children to be lucky enough to have every opportunity, but wise and humble enough to use those opportunities well. I would like my children to be kind, intelligent, and thankful as they go through life. |
