What is your most memorable childhood experience? | My most memorable childhood experience is when I was in 3rd grade, and both my sisters were at the same elementary school as me (1st and 5th grade). It was the end of the school year so there was an assembly with the entire school. The principal went on to give awards to distinguished students, such as those who never missed a day of class, those who excelled in their grades etc. Then they were announcing an award that was only given to one student in each grade and it was called the "citizenship" award. They prefaced this award by saying how it was the highest award they could give to students and how it represented a student that excelled in all aspects of school, such as grades, fellowship with classmates, responsibility, and respectfulness. They announced all the recipients of this award and it included myself as well as my 2 sisters. This was a large school district too, so my parents were thrilled that all 3 of their children had won this award that the next day they bought us all amusement park passes and we spent that year going on roller coasters and making great memories. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I identify most with my father. He is someone I have always looked up to, and he is someone who has pushed me to attain my goals. He always supports me in what I do and enjoys playing various sports and games with me. He is strong and intelligent. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I admire honesty and communication. I really value good communication skills and people who tell the truth. Communicating issues to people even if it is uncomfortable is an admirable trait and leads to solutions rather than more problems. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | The funniest thing that has ever happened to me would be when I first started mountain biking. It was before I joined the mountain biking high school team, and we went to a race a few cities away. It was my first time ever competing in this sport and I was doing just fine. Completed all my laps in a respectable amount of time. Then when they announced the winners, they called my name up for 1st place in my division and I was thrilled! I walked up to the podium and was ready to meet who else had podiumed, only to find out I was the only person who had entered the race for my division. |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I think Iceland would be a very fun spot. Because of where I was born and raised, I love colder climates. Although if time and money were not an issue, ideally, I would like to travel to every country to be able to experience every landscape, culture, and community that the planet offers. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | Most importantly I would like to give my own children the ability to think and speak for themselves. The ability for them to take what they are told and to form their own opinions. I want them to be able to create their own path in life that is their choice and their choice alone. I want my children to be happy with what they do. |
