What is your most memorable childhood experience?My most memorable childhood experience is after a fight I had at school (being the only child of color), my sisters quickly came to my aid and assisted with my recovery and reporting the incident.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify with my dad's father. Papa has been my rock, my comrade, my father and my moral compass. He has been with me when no one else has and I treasure his insight, knowledge and gentle nature toward me.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire one that is able to handle the truth and be truthful. One should also be inclined to be patient and loyal. The only thing we have left in this world is our word. I also admire discipline. You can learn a lot about a person by just watching them when they don't know you are.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Besides bruising my buttocks while roller skating, it had to be the time someone mistook me for a celebrity. They wanted my autograph and wanted me to sing (they thought I was John Legend). I was shocked and eventually convinced them that I was not.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to Australia. I would like to see the various wildlife, visit with the aboriginals, and indulge in the fishing.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?The meaning of, and the history of our family. Let them know where they came from, who their ancestors were and what they can accomplish because of what their forefathers did.
