What is your most memorable childhood experience?My most memorable childhood experience was when we moved back to our hometown after having lived in a much larger city for a few years. As a typical child I was mad, sad, and frustrated that I had to leave all my friends and live in a small town.My mother, sad too, sat down and cried with me. She explained the reason we were moving was because my dad was suffering at his job. In fact, she did this so brilliantly, that by the end of the talk I was indignant about the injustice my dad was suffering. I was pumped up about moving away from people who would cause such pain!
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My mother; I share her patience and no-nonsense view of things.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Honesty, straightforwardness, humor, wisdom, and wit.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?The funniest thing that ever happened to me was when I flooded my apartment and the apartment below. I was draining my waterbed, forgot about it, and left the apartment to go eat. When I returned 2 hours later, there was water cascading off the second floor landing. As I rushed through the downpour into the apartment, I discovered water pouring through all the light fixtures, the air vents, and the window panes. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay any damages.In fact, the maintenance people commented on how I cleaned out the air ducts.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I really enjoy traveling, and if time and money were not an issue, I would go anywhere I could. The varied people and geography of the world is simply fascinating. I also feel the more places I am able to go, and the more people I am able to meet, the more I will understand.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?A sense of purpose in the world and a desire to make a difference.
