Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience was when I was in elementary school. It was the end of the grading period when I was in 4th grade. Only one student had received distinguished honor roll. It was going to be either me or my rival (who was also my friend, but we competed academically). I was so nervous when I got my envelope that I didn't even want to open it. After school had ended I finally opened it in the lobby. I was that one student! I was so excited that I literally danced around the people in the lobby and got quite a few stares.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I most closely identify the most with my mother. My mother is very strong-willed and dedicated. She is a very hard worker and I feel that I try to make my adult decisions using the values she taught me.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire people's honesty, directness, and how they handle responsibility. Honesty is important because it shows trust. I love directness because I don't like secrets. Taking responsibility is important because it shows how mature an individual is when he or she can own up to their own actions.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? There have been many funny things to have happened in my life. One of the funniest was probably the time I was running late for school and my mom had to rush me there. She likes to be witty so in the car she said "We're pinched for time, and time is pinched!" I have no idea why I began to crack up but I almost cried. It was so spontaneous and it had made my day.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Because I love to travel and if time and money weren't an issue I would try to go everywhere. However, if I could pick one place right now I think it would have to be Lebanon. I have never been and have seen how beautiful its beaches and cities are from pictures on the internet. It is also where my great grandparents on my dad's side have come from so for me to go there would be a vacation and also a heritage trip.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on to my children that life is too short and you need to make the best of it. I would tell them to smile and think optimistically every day. To laugh and care about others yet focus most importantly on themselves. There are many cliché things I would tell them, for example that I love them! But most importantly, I would pass on to my children that they need to just be who they are.
