Updates - MedicalUpdate received March 2014: The donor no longer consumes alcohol. No change to donor Medical Profile: November 2015.
Updates - Family Medical HistoryNo change to donor Family Medical History: March 2014, November 2015.UPDATE Aug 2025: A boy conceived by this donor has been diagnosed with ASD Level 3 at the age of 3. He is nonverbal at 3.5yo, has global developmental delays, and displays repetitive actions, globaldelays, eloping behaviors, inattention, decreased sense of danger, and significant communicationdifficulties. He doesn't have any other medical problems. This donor has met the Fairfax Cryobank family unit limit of 25 with no other reports of donor conceived children with autism. Risk for recurrence depends on the underlying etiology. Generally speaking, studies have estimated that, when a child has been diagnosed with ASD, the risk a second child (who was conceived by the same egg and sperm source) will develop ASD is 18 to 20%. When a half-sibling (i.e., someone conceived from the same sperm source but different egg sources) has been diagnosed with ASD, the risk that other half-siblings will develop ASD is believed to be 9 to 10%. If a specific etiology is determined, the risk of recurrence may be different. Per the clinet, her son will be meeting with their local genetic department later this year.UPDATE Nov 2025: The previously mentioned boy was determined to have a missing piece of chromosome 16 (16p11.2). Most cases of this deletion are new to an afffect person, however Fairfax will reach out to this donor to consent him to testing for this deletion. No causative link to this donor has been determined at this point nor has the egg source been tested for this deletion. Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
