What is your most memorable childhood experience? | My most memorable childhood experiences are the summers I spent with my best friend fishing and catching wildlife in a creek near his house. We’d spend all day outside getting dirty, and occasionally drop the fishing poles for a game of touch football with the neighborhood kids. We never had a plan; the days just unfolded however they came. I miss those carefree experiences. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I closely identify with my sister because we both tend to do things our own way. We’re very different people in our interests and habits, but we both know what we like and aren’t afraid to pursue those things, regardless of what others think. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I admire honesty, humor, intelligence, empathy, open-mindedness, self-discipline, and motivation. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | Although it may not be the funniest thing that's happened to me, the hardest I've ever laughed was in my 9th grade history class. During a speech, my friend realized that the speaker had an uncanny resemblance to the TV character Alf. After telling me this, we did our best to suppress hysterical laughter for the next several minutes. It was definitely a time I'll always remember. |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | One thing I want to do before I die is visit every state in the US. So if time and money weren’t issues, I would set out in an RV with a couple of close friends to travel around the country. There’s so much to do and see in any given place that the possibilities are endless, but I would expect my highlights to be snowboarding in Colorado, hiking in the Grand Canyon, seeing the northern lights in Alaska, nights out in Las Vegas, and of course the grand finale vacation to Hawaii. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | One thing I want to pass on to my children is the ability and freedom to really decide how they view their world. I want them to know that they don’t always have to pick from a list of options or subscribe to a predetermined viewpoint; they can interpret their world and decide how they see it by always questioning and searching for answers. |
