Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience was waking up on Christmas of '98 and unwrapping a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Blue. I had never received a Christmas present I actually wanted as much as that before. Presents at that age were usually just what adults thought a kid was supposed to enjoy. And in later years, I learned how difficult it must have been for my father to locate these items during the craze, which made it that much more sentimental.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?The family member I most closely identify with is my father. He taught me the value of having firm, healthy boundaries, whilst remaining humble and polite. He's able to cherish the moments of everyday life without having to fill the void of silence with fake interactions. He was my first example of a genuine human being and I try to be that second generation. He also kept a well-stocked garage that taught me the value of utilitarianism which I try to achieve in a throwaway-over-repair society.
What character traits do you admire in an individual? The number one most admirable trait in anyone is honesty. Honesty to others and honesty to oneself. Dishonesty to others is an obvious character flaw, but dishonesty to oneself will only lead to a life one shouldn't be living. Being humble is also critical in today's society.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I was at a rehearsal taking place at the director's home. The cast was outside, and the backyard had a slope to a lake. During an intense scene, right as it was my turn to speak, out of nowhere with no build up, the back legs of my lawn chair buckled and I tumbled backwards head over heels.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Poland to see my family. Japan to see the five story arcades. Mars to say I did.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I want to instill a strong sense of agency in my children. People who lack agency are rarely able to live the lives they want to, and have to rely on others. I want my children to be problem solvers without needing someone to hold their hand through all of life's difficulties.
