| What is your most memorable childhood experience? | My most memorable childhood experience was going to Washington D.C. to see the many historical buildings and monuments, and the museums. I've always liked history, and to see what made our country great first hand. The Air and Space Museum, in particular, is pretty inspiring to dream bigger. |
| What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | My mother is closest to me and was always supportive of my creativity growing up.
When we were younger, my brother and I would go out with them on a trip and my brother would tell me what he wanted and I’d relay the message for him instead of him asking. My mother was also always proud of my good grades and winning spelling bees, and she was part of the Parents Teachers Association. |
| What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I admire people that try something new and don't just be a follower their whole life. I like poets and authors that came from humble beginnings, but strived to be something bigger in their life and career. |
| What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | I used to tutor elementary school, and they always surprised me with their silliness and innocence. One child in particular asked if I had a girlfriend at the time and I said yes. He then asked, “Is she light-skinned like you?” I thought that was remarkable, as he was African American but didn’t ask if she’s white or black, but just a different shade, and didn’t see me as a race or as different. That gives me hope for the future; that children see people with no prejudices or judgement. |
| If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I'd travel to Hawaii and snorkel and explore the natural world more. It's great to get away from city life when possible and connect with nature more. |
| When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I want to pass on my creativity, my hard work ethic, and urgency to try new things and not get too closed off from learning something new each day. |
