| Updates - Family Medical History | Update June 2021: Donor's maternal grandmother has passed away at age 78. Cause of death was not reported. UPDATE September 2026: Fairfax was notified that a client’s child was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The risk of recurrence among other donor-conceived children is currently being assessed. At this time, this is the only information available to us. The donor has been placed in Investigation status while additional information is gathered and the case is evaluated. If further relevant details become available, they will be reviewed and added to the donor’s record as appropriate. Update September 2026: Fairfax was notified that a client reported a donor-conceived child with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The diagnosis was made by a pediatric neurologist at the age of 1 year 8 months. No other health concerns were reported, and genetic testing was not pursued at the time of this update. Approximately 10-15 births have been reported for this donor with no other children reported to have this finding. Risk for recurrence in other donor conceived children depends on the underlying etiology. Without additional information, a potential risk for occurrence in other donor conceived children remains unknown. To be clear, there is no indication that this child's medical history is linked solely, if at all, to the donor; however, Fairfax has elected to exhibit caution and restrict the use of this donor. |
