Updates - Family Medical HistoryNo change to donor Family Medical History: July 2021. UPDATE July 2026: A donor conceived pregnancy was identified to have multiple missing and extra pieces of DNA. The genetic testing laboratory director believes these to be new to this pregnancy however Fairfax will be reaching out to the donor for further testing to confirm this suspicion. This donor has met his family unit limit with no other medical updates reported. Additional information will be added here once it is obtained. UPDATE August 2026: Despite multiple attempts, the donor could not be reached for confirmatory testing. However, based on the laboratory report and that the donor has met his family unit limit with no prior medical updates, the chromosome changes identified in this pregnancy are not believed to have been inherited from this donor. As such, risk for occurrence in other donor conceived children does not appear to be increased. UPDATE August 2026: A donor conceived child was identified to have a missing piece of DNA on chromosome 19. This missing piece is NOT in the same area as the pregnancy mentioned above – it is an unrelated medical update. The donor has met his family unit limit; no other children have been reported to have missing DNA in this area of chromosome 19. The child’s mother was tested and does not have this missing piece. The donor was put into Investigation while additional information is obtained. UPDATE August 2026: Regarding the original medical update reported in August 2026, Fairfax was notified that a child conceived with the help of this donor was identified to have a missing piece of DNA from chromosome 19 ( ~247 thousand base pairs in size from 19q13.11). Genetic testing on this child was initiated after his diagnosis of hip dysplasia, a curved penis, and a scalp lesion. Per the client, her son has a speech delay but is otherwise healthy. Proactive evaluations by a nephrologist, cardiologist, and early intervention did not detect any additional medical issues. As previously stated, the egg source was not identified to carry this deletion. Despite multiple attempts, the sperm donor could not be reached for genetic testing to determine if this deletion was inherited or new to this child. As such, risk for recurrence in other donor conceived children is unknown. Over 20 births have been reported for this donor, with no other children reported to have this finding, making it unlikely that this deletion was inherited from this donor. That said, Fairfax has elected to exhibit caution and restrict the use of this donor. This does not mean that the deletion has been attributed to the donor but simply that his vials will not be for sale to the public. Clients who request this donor may purchase and ship additional vials after signing an Informed Consent form.
