Updates - Family Medical HistoryUpdate March 2025: A pregnancy was reported with arthrogyposis (fetal contractures) and hydrops. Genetic testing was negative. The cause is unknown. Risks to others using this donor are low, likely less than 1%. Update August 2025: A child was reported to have been diagnosed with nystagmus, mild esotropia, and moderate hyperopia via a pediatric ophthalmologist. Per the client, the doctor noted that he has mild features of albinism including mild depigmentation in the fovea. They received a referral to see a geneticist to test him for albinism but have not pursued this option as of 8/7/2025. Risk to other donor conceived people depends on underlying etiology but is most likely minimal given the lack of similar reports from other clients. UPDATE May 2026: Fairfax was notified that a client’s son was being evaluated for albinism. Per the client, their National Health Service did not proceed with genetic testing following an evaluation by an ophthalmologist who did not identify ocular findings consistent with albinism.
