| What is your most memorable childhood experience? | The moment when I learned to ride a bicycle stands out in my memory. I had no help and had to learn myself. That week I was trying very hard to learn to ride and kept falling down and getting hurt. At one point I let go and fell very hard bruising my body all over, but the next moment I was riding the bike and all the pain went away. That was the beginning of the phase when anything I put my mind to started coming together. |
| What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I closely identify with my father because just like me he is also very reserved and does not express very much but cares a lot. Unlike my mother who is very expressive, my father and I are not. I would say we both care a lot about people we love. |
| What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I admire people who stand up for themselves, question everything, and are honest towards everyone. I like when a person would rather face the truth than run away just to avoid being confronted. |
| What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | One of the funniest things ever to happen to me would be when I was supposed to give a speech in front of a crowd of 500 people and was nervous. I went to the podium and delivered my speech nervously after which people clapped. The funny part is the mic had stopped working and people clapped because they knew that I was nervous and had no idea the mic was not working but still gave the speech. |
| If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I would travel to a small village in The Gambia known as Jufureh. It is small village that appeared in Alex Haley's "Roots" which is a very powerful book that helped me understand how bad slavery is. |
| When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I would like to pass on to them the idea that no matter what they are doing, if they keep practicing, they will eventually get so good at it that they will be masters of it even in their sleep. |
