Update September 2026: Fairfax was notified that a client’s donor-conceived pregnancy was diagnosed with DiGeorge syndrome. Genetic testing was conducted via amniocentesis, and the child was confirmed to have a deletion on chromosome 22q11.21. This deletion is de novo in more than 90% of individuals. The donor has met his family unit limit, with no other children reported to have this finding. Client reported that her testing was negative; though results were requested, they have not been received by Fairfax. The donor has not been tested, as based on the information available, the likelihood of him carrying this deletion is extremely small. For this reason, risk is not expected to be elevated for other donor-conceived children. |
