What is your most memorable childhood experience? | When I was a child, I traveled to Paris. It just so happened that we were in Paris at the same time the Euro was introduced, which was also New Year's Day. It was cool to witness a moment in history. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I identify most with my grandmother (abuela). Our personalities are similar, and we have serious conversations with each other although we have a 60-year age difference. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | The character traits I admire most in other people are honor and integrity. These are valuable traits for any person and allow you to trust someone. I learned the true value of these traits in the Marines. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | I once had a difficult training exercise when I was in the Marines. We were training near a rocky ridge. I was so sleep deprived that instead of referring to the ridge by its name, I called it "that rock Simba was raised on." |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I would travel to Kyoto, Japan. I have always wanted to see the cherry blossoms blooming. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I want them to have more opportunities than I did, just as my parents wanted me to have a better life than they did. I moved around a lot as a child, and it affected my opportunities and friendships. |
