What is your most memorable childhood experience? | I have fond memories of growing up with my sisters throughout my childhood. My younger sisters were such important people in my life, and they helped me explore my surroundings as a kid and learn to communicate with others. Growing up with them involved a lot of helping them because they were younger, and that led me to realize that helping others is what I wanted to make my career about. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I identify most with my mom. She did not work and spent all of her time raising us while my dad worked. She raised me to be the respectful man that I am today. Because I have spent so much time with her, I trust her with anything and feel very comfortable talking with her about anything. She is always so supportive of what I choose to do as an adult. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I admire compassion the most. This trait is so important, and I work hard to exemplify it every day of my life. Not only is it important for me personally to show compassion towards the people in my life, but it is also important in my career as a Dietitian. Showing compassion with my patients comes natural to me and is vital for me to get to understand and help them the best I can. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | A producer wanted to recruit me for a reality TV show. Anyone close to me will tell you that this is funny because I tend to be a more private, shy person and am not one to draw attention to myself. Because the show is so different from who I am, it is funny that a producer tried recruiting me. I turned down the offer for this reason and cannot imagine ever being on that show. |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I would travel to New Zealand. I love outdoor adventure and seeing wild animals, and New Zealand seems to be the place that would allow me to do anything I wanted in the wild. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I hope to pass on the value of compassion and self-respect. Compassion is vital to be able to get along with others and treat others with respect. Self-respect is important too because if you don’t respect yourself, it’s hard to show respect for others and one thing that does not sit right with me is when people are disrespectful to others. |
