| What is your most memorable childhood experience? | It may sound a little cheesy, but as a computer software engineer I always enjoyed playing computer games. The most memorable moment for me was when I was playing World of Warcraft for the first time and I remember when I got to the new expansion area called outlands. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I remember just being elated about this new area. I spent so much time exploring it, and it was one of the experiences that made me want to create games of my own to try to give others that feeling. |
| What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I identify very closely with my mom and dad. It’s tough for me to choose just one. I think both actually represent my everyday life pretty well. I’m an active person, just like my dad. He and I are both athletic and coordinated. We both played all kinds of sports and had all kinds of hobbies. We also have the same personality when it comes to a lot of things. I’m a bit introverted as is he, but on the flipside I’m also very good at conversation and I’m a very lively person with a group I’m comfortable with. That’s where my mom comes in, I think both she and I have a very fun personality to be around. We’re silly, and we make each other and everyone laugh. So I’d have to say I get the best from both of them, and we’re all just generally good people. |
| What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I admire honesty, integrity, intelligence, humility and kindness. I typically respect someone much more if they're humble and take time to reflect. A person's ability to calm down and reflect on something and realize in some cases (not every) that they might have been wrong and grow from that is really important to me. This kind of ties in to intelligence in my opinion, being smart enough to self reflect and make yourself a better person no matter what you’re doing. |
| What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | I think the funniest thing to happen to me was also a gaming moment. I remember I was playing games with my friend and he was lagging behind and I was watching his stream. I've never seen someone lag literal minutes behind in a game, but everything he was seeing on his screen was from around 2 or 3 minutes earlier while my game was up to date. So, in the game I was watching him fight enemies that were no longer there anymore and I just thought it was hilarious. It was a competitive game too so it was just funny watching him struggle fighting imaginary enemies essentially not doing anything the whole game. I haven't laughed that much in a long time. My one regret is that I thought I was recording it, but it turns out I wasn't. |
| If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | If money were not an issue, I think I would like to spend time in a few places. First off I would really enjoy Spain having been there once before. I liked practicing my Spanish and climbing outdoors in the mountains there with some people I had met. I would also love to visit the rainforest. I've always loved the dark jungle aesthetic and I would like to just explore the rainforest and all the amazing plants and animals there. Lastly, I think I’d like to spend time in Japan. I think their culture is really interesting and I love Japanese food. |
| When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I think I would like to pass on my willingness to try new things. That's probably more of a social trait that I got while growing up, but I've always hated when people say "You can't do that". I always try my best to encourage others to try anything they want. No one is good at something their first time doing it. I have so many hobbies that I enjoy, and some that I'm very good at even on a world scale, and that wouldn't happen if I listened to people tell me I shouldn't try something new. I think that's an important lesson I would like to teach my children. It's okay to try and it's okay to fail. |
