Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience would be visiting the island my family all originates from in The Bahamas. I was 6 the second time I went, and my grandmother let me pretty much do whatever because it’s a very safe place. I was on the beach swimming, fishing, playing for the entire day. Then me and the boys from there would play hide and seek or ride bikes up and down the street. I made it a mission to tell the world about my home country of The Bahamas and that's one of my fondest memories spent there.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify closest with my dad. We shared similar struggles and a similar mindset. And as I got older, I see how similar we are. I learned a lot from him particularly just how to carry myself as a man in this world.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire creativity, levelheadedness, and persistence in individuals. Mainly these are traits I like about myself, and I like to see these traits in others. It’s like a "oh you're kinda like me" moment.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? This is going to sound so random. The hardest I ever laughed was at a restaurant when I ordered a kids’ menu "pizza" and it was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. The slice was regular length but super skinny and they put it on a plate with a slice of orange and the tiniest rice crispy treat they could find. I’m laughing thinking about it right now. You just had to have been there.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to everywhere in the world with a beach. I grew up on an island, so the water is where I feel at home. Mainly all around the Caribbean and South Pacific.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?If I had children I would like to pass on my balanced nature, and levelheadedness. I feel like I'm able to remain calm in the most stressful situations. Clear thinking at those moments is crucial. That's what life is all about, decisions made in the heat of the moment.
