Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?Playing with my brothers in a large sand pit. We had many toy trucks and construction machines. I also remember well learning how to ride a motorcycle very young. It was a small 75cc bike, but I had a great deal of fun on it!
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I am very close to my younger brother. Although we fought a lot when we were younger, we managed to grow very close, especially in recent years. I think this is partly due to us having similar interests, like motorcycles and sports.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire loyalty, tenacity, a positive attitude, and being socially outgoing. These qualities are evident in my closest friendships and family members. I think they are important not only in good time, but especially when things are not going right. The ability to work through issues without turning on one another or focusing on the negative is very important to me.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?The funniest thing to happen to me would be accidentally winning a wrestling tournament. In my freshman year I wrestled in a JV tournament, barely making it to the finals round. I had been losing by points hardily, but in the final minutes of the round my opponent went for a very risky move named the 'suicide cradle.' I caught my opponent in this move, and was able to pin him, securing first place in the tournament. My coach never forgot this, and would bring it up regularly!
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to Hawaii, as I hear from everyone who has been that it is a must see. I would also love to hike some of the Nepal and Chinese mountains. I would also travel back to Maine for more lobster. It sounds like an odd reason, but I love seafood. I even tried lobster ice cream while there, which was surprisingly good!
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on a positive attitude, some baseline knowlege and skill to fix simple things, like the ability to change a tire. I would also like to instill a sense of adventure, as I feel this is an important way to connect with the world. I think that this is important, especially for children to experience.
