Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?Growing up I’ve had plenty of more than memorable experiences, from spending time with family and friends, to getting a new puppy, to eating my favorite family cooked meal. Among those great memories one does clearly stand out to me. When I was a small child, I would spend countless days with my grandfather running around his ranch. One time, he let me bottle-feed a newborn calf, and I remember how its tiny tongue tickled my hand as it drank. That moment made me feel like I was truly part of the ranch and connected to the life my grandfather loved.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My family is truly filled with wonderful, talented, and empathetic individuals, but out of all my family, one member does stand out. My grandmother is one of the hardest working and most persevering people I have ever met, not once has she complained about the hand she was dealt, rather she works hard every day to provide and get her family to a better place. For those reasons she is the member of my family I most identify with. I mimic her footsteps hoping one day I can be like her.
What character traits do you admire in an individual? The character traits I admire most in an individual are empathy, kindness, and perseverance. Empathy helps people understand others on a deeper level and respond with genuine care. Kindness shows in the way someone treats others, even when there is nothing to gain. Perseverance is the ability to keep going despite challenges, showing strength and determination. These traits together reflect a person who is thoughtful, caring, and resilient.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?One of the funniest things to happen to me as a kid was the time I tried to “help” my mom wash the car with dish soap and a garden hose. I was so proud of myself until I accidentally sprayed the hose straight into the open car window, soaking the entire front seat. I panicked and tried to dry it with paper towels but ended up slipping on the wet driveway and landing in the soap bucket. My mom couldn’t stop laughing, and neither could I once I realized the car smelled like lemons for a week.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If time and money were not an issue, I would travel to France and Italy. I have friends in both countries who have shared amazing pictures of the cities, countryside, and food. Seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night or walking through the historic streets of Rome has always been a dream of mine. Their stories and photos make me feel like I’ve already experienced a piece of it, and I’d love to see it all in person. Exploring the culture, trying authentic dishes, and spending time with my friends would make the trip unforgettable.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? When and if I have children, I would like to pass on wisdom, kindness, curiosity, and a love for learning new things. Wisdom will help them make thoughtful decisions and understand the world with clarity. Kindness will guide how they treat others, showing compassion and respect in every interaction. Curiosity will keep their minds open and eager to explore new ideas and experiences. A love for learning will help them grow throughout life, always seeking knowledge and improvement.
