| What is your most memorable childhood experience? | I definitely have a lot of memorable childhood experiences but one thing that really sums up me as a kid would be choosing a different favorite animal each day! Every day I would make my parents take me to the library and I would find a book or movie (about animals) that looked cool to me at whatever age I was! (I started doing this at like 4 years old) Then, I would go home, watch the movie or read the book as fast as I could and then spend the rest of the day learning everything I could about whatever particular species stuck out to me until the next day when I chose another animal to learn about! |
| What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I identify really closely with my dad. Even though we sometimes disagree about silly stuff, I've always admired his desire to protect the environment. We have a lot of differences in personality but we can always agree on important issues and morals which makes him really good to talk to. |
| What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I really admire honesty, honor, and loyalty. I think as long as you stand by values that make you want to protect people and other living beings around you, the rest comes with that. You can go a long way in life without strength or intelligence (also both really admirable traits) as long as you have people around you that you would give everything for and you know would do the same for you. |
| What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | I'm not sure if this is the funniest thing that ever happened to me but it's definitely the funniest way I gained an interest in something! I'm sure this is already somewhere on my profile, but when I was 9, I got stung by a bee, and a few weeks later when I was in a bookstore looking for books about animals I saw a book about bees and remembering being stung made me get the book because I wanted to learn more about why the bee that stung me had to die from stinging - which kickstarted a new passion for bees and I got my own hives a few years later! I even chose which college I wanted to go to based on the size and research of their bee lab! |
| If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I've always wanted to travel around the whole world, but if I had to choose one place I think I would choose Indonesia. I've grown up around mountains and ocean and I love skiing, snowboarding, surfing, snorkeling, hiking, and pretty much all of the outdoor things you can do on mountains and in the ocean. I've gotten to go to the Galapagos before which was an absolutely amazing place and I think the only other place that could hold a candle to that would be Indonesia. |
| When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I want to pass on my admiration, respect, and love for the world around me. I think one of the most important things in life is knowing and being grateful for what you have and striving to protect what's important for future generations to be able to enjoy as well, which for me is the incredible nature on this planet. I think that the amount of beauty and wonder in the world is due to the number of different creatures on Earth and I think that understanding and protecting that is something that comes with strong values of love and care which are (in my opinion) two of the most important values to have. |
