Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? It was when I first learned how to scuba dive. I've never imagined that I'll be able to observe the beautiful underwater world like this. I was amazed and started to realize how big the world is and how small we are as individuals. It was a very emotional experience; it was a great way to connect with nature and quite the eye-opener.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?In my opinion, I’m closest to my grandmother. I was raised by my grandmother, and I spent more of my childhood with her than with my biological parents. My parents were always away with business and never around, hence I felt more connected with my grandparents. Even though I am married now, I still take time to go back to visit my grandparents whenever I can. They are the dearest to me.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I respect people who are in public services and social work. In this society, everyone is very self-centered and focused on personal gains more than anything. The public servants (police, firemen, etc.) are working for the good of the society, and essentially for the benefits of others while putting themselves in danger or at a disadvantage. I have high respect for these people.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? When I went to Hawaii during a vacation, a group of friends and I decided to visit a local show where the host would randomly call on the audience to go on stage and dance in front of the whole crowd. I was not very interested, but I tagged along. When it came to the part where they are calling on the audience, I naturally lowered my head to avoid being called, but my friends are all excited to go. They were jumping up and down trying to get attention. But for some reason, the host called me up on stage, I ended up dancing in front of hundreds of people, and my friends all took pictures of me dancing awkwardly and showed them to me afterwards. Although it was a surprise, the pictures are super funny, and we still talk about that experience sometimes when we get together.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I'd like to travel to Europe. I've visited several places in North America and Asia, but I've never been to Europe. I really want to visit England, France, and Germany. It's quite far and time consuming for me right now, but if I ignore time and money, I'd love to go ASAP.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I'd definitely pass on all the knowledge and experience I have as an adult. If there is a way I can save my children some time and avoid unnecessary trial and error, I will do it in a heartbeat. In addition, I want to pass on the skills that I have, whether the children want to keep them, it's up to them. As for materialized goods, everything I've saved will be transferred to them, however much.
