Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? At 3 years old, I learned how to ride a bike by myself without training wheels. My father was out of town on a business trip and promised when he got home, he would help me take the training wheels off and teach me to ride without them. I got impatient, so I found my grandpa’s old toolbox and used whatever tools I could get to fit the wheels and took them off.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My father was and still continues to be an outstanding father. I hope that I can do the same for my children and set them up for success and happiness like my father did for me. Family is most important to me, and I am fully embracing the honor of raising two babies.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I prefer someone who is genuine, rather than a person who puts on a persona based on who they are around. A person who is loyal to their friends and people they hold dearly. If they will defend you and honor you when you aren’t around, that is exactly what I strive to surround myself with. Fake people with ulterior motives or self-interests tend to be short-term acquaintances.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I was out at a company mandatory trade event in Chicago. I really didn’t want to go but was told I had to attend. Working as a flight attendant for a major airline, I would much rather be flying my route than being stuck in Chicago, which was one of my least favorite places to visit. However, the funniest thing ever to happen to me while there was that I met the person who is now my wife. I didn’t want to be there, I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but she fell headfirst into my life, and I knew the moment I met her that she would be my person forever.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?My dream has always been to wake up to the Northern lights early in the morning camping by a Fjord in Norway. I just find nature so beautiful and couldn’t trade that moment for the most beautiful beach or city in the world. A close second would definitely be New Zealand, where I would be out exploring the mountains and rivers of the land.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I hope to pass on a healthy lifestyle, compassion, and determination. I try my best to make sure my wife and I eat healthy and maintain a 5 day per week exercise plan so that our children understand that working out and eating right is part of life. I hope to teach them compassion for their fellow humans, and compassion within themselves to not be so hard when they miss success. I want them to know that they can do anything, even if they don’t get it right on the first try.
