Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? One time in third grade I made the mistake of allowing my parents to convince me that buying a Toblerone bar for a girl for her birthday was a good idea. I wasn't interested in that girl-I just didn't know what to get her and so I asked my parents for a suggestion. When everyone else found out about it (my friends, her parents, the whole classroom, my teacher) I suffered through an entire day of embarrassment and teasing. Also, her parents made her throw the chocolate bar away, as I later found out...
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I relate most closely with my brother. He and I are close in age and we understand each other when it comes to discussing the struggles of emerging adulthood as well as the difficulties of living and dealing with family members as newly independent adults.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I like people whose words I can take at face value. I also like people who don't conform to their cultural/ethnic stereotypes and take a little bit of figuring out. I also like people who show a sense of responsibility, reliability, and commitment.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?A friend of mine played a joke on me one time in high school. She (somehow) managed to slip one of her bras inside one of my school binders when I wasn't looking. When I got up in the middle of a class to turn the binder in to a substitute teacher, the thing fell out in front of everyone. I was pretty angry and embarrassed at the time, but looking back on it, it was pretty funny. Plus, now that I think of it, there were probably one or two ways that I could have played that situation to my advantage.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Everywhere. Life is short and then you die. Might as well sample everything.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?Whatever comes to my mind or seems important while I'm still alive with them. I've learned so much so far, and I'm sure I'll learn even more for the rest of my life. I can't list specifics because life inundates you with so many useful experiences.
