Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I was three years old and in a theatre watching the movie "ET" for the first time. During the scene in which the government officials take ET away from Elliott, I jumped up and began crying and ran to the middle aisle. Every single child in the theater followed my lead and began to cry and run towards the place where I was now kneeling on the ground. My poor mother was very embarrassed, but she couldn't help but laugh at the same time. I still remember that day like it was yesterday.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify with all four of my sisters. Each one is unique and amazing and has so much to offer. I learn so much from them as we all get older and begin to share our life experiences. They help make me a better person every day, and I hope to do the same for them in return. It is truly amazing to have such a close and unique bond with each of them.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire individuals who are honest and secure with themselves. So many people go through life pretending to be someone that they are not. This serves no purpose and only limits individuals and what they can offer. One of the greatest gifts in this world is connecting and getting to know people for who they are. So for those that can just be themselves in an open and honest way is something I feel everyone should admire.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I try to make my life as funny and fun as possible. So to call something the "funniest" would be rather difficult. Then again, everyone has their own unique sense of humor, so my life might not be that hilarious to someone else. But I'm pretty sure it is. Maybe...
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?No time issue and unlimited cash... Um, EVERYWHERE!!! To be given such an amazing gift, there is no way I could only chose one place to travel. Every single inch of this world has so much to offer, and it would be such an amazing opportunity to be able to experience it. It doesn't matter if it's an art gallery in downtown Denver or a solo concert in Liverpool. The ability to connect and share with different individuals is very powerful. Some of the best conversations I've ever had where not in the classroom. Sitting down at a bar in London and listening to an eighty year old man tell his life story is something you'll never forget. And it's conversations like these that can help shape you as an individual. We are a product of our environment, so if you can experience the world and all its offerings; a well-rounded and rich life you now should carry.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I want them to know that I will always love them and I will always be proud of them. Life is hard and you're going to get knocked down. But it's your ability to get back up and learn from your mistakes that makes life worth living. I would also want them to be able to listen to the world and people around them. You don't have to agree with what they are saying, everyone has a story to tell and everyone wants to be heard. But your ability to listen will help you far more than you will ever know. Respect yourself and others, and always lead by example.
