Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? It would be very difficult to select one specific childhood memory, so I would say that my most memorable experience would be playing hockey throughout elementary school. Although I switched to basketball in 7th grade, I made most of my childhood friends while playing hockey. Many great memories happened during games and tournaments, or just hanging out with some of the friends at their houses.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I definitely identify with my brother the most. Although we don't live near each other, and we don't really talk all that often, we get along really well. When we do see each other or talk on the phone we are able to pick up right where we left off as if we had seen each other yesterday. We have similar interests and personalities so we have a lot of fun together and really understand one another.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?By far, kindness is that quality that I admire in an individual. The ability to be kind to anyone no matter what they are like is how everyone should live their life. A great sense of humor, easy going, but hard working, trustworthy, and honesty are all also important traits to have.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?One of the funniest things that I laugh about now is when I scored on the wrong basketball hoop during a game. It was not funny at the time, but my friends and I like to look back and laugh on it a lot. It's pretty funny to look back on, and I think it was a good learning experience and it helped me learn to laugh at myself. We also still won the game so that also made it okay.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to Southeast Asia and India, because I understand that they are unlike any place I have ever traveled to. It is also a large region in the world that has a lot of different things to experience. The plane ticket would be expensive to get there, but if time and money were not an issue, it would be the next region I would travel to.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? The most important thing to teach others, especially your own children, would be to treat everyone with respect. The golden rule is so simple, but it is followed very rarely. I would teach them that they have a lot of value and a lot to offer, and so does everyone else in the world.
