What is your most memorable childhood experience?My most memorable childhood experience is riding my bike around with my friends. We would ride down the block, around the neighborhood, through the forests and through swamps. We would dare each other to ride down steep hills and ride miles and miles through other towns. It seemed to us on our bikes that we could ride around the world, that the possibilities were endless.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I get along the best with my sister. We have bonded in the last few years as I have come home from living abroad, Now that all my friends have moved far away, she and I hang out and talk more.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire people who are true to their word, strong of character and mind. People whom you know will always have your back. People who are understanding and will be there for you if you are in a pinch. I also admire people with a passion for one thing, musicians, actors, dancers, and writers. People who work to enhance their craft to perfection.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Living abroad, sometimes the food will get the best of you. There have been a few occasions of sudden diarrhea.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If time and money where not an issue I would like to travel to all five continents. I would always come home, as everyone needs a home, but I would stay in each continent for two years. That is the amount of time that is needed to understand a culture and its people, including learning a new language.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?When I have children I would like to bring them up with a plan. I believe it's important to give children direction and teach morals and values. I think it is a myth that overbearing parents stifle freedom and creativity. I think that passive parents, who say or do nothing, are just as bad if not worse. Children need structure, routine, and enriching experiences. The best path is parenting with encouragement, communication, and expectation. It is important to have children thinking early about their future and career.
