Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood memory was when I was six years old. My family loaded up our minivan and we did a month-long trip across the United States and back. We went to all sorts of national parks, monuments, historic places and other sights of interest. It was the neatest and coolest trip that I have ever done, and I remember the details of it vividly even though I was so young. I will never forget that trip.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify with my dad the most. Besides the two of us looking pretty similar, our personalities and likes are almost one and the same. We both love sports, and enjoy watching and going to different sports events. We have the same taste in music and food, and we both have the same sense of humor. We get along very well, and we can even know what the other may be thinking.
What character traits do you admire in an individual? There are a few traits that draw me to a person no matter what the situation. I admire a person who has a great sense of humor. Humor is a key to living a happy life. I admire a person who can hold an intelligent conversation. A person who can make a valid, fact-based point, but can also openly listen to another person's point of view is very rare these days. I admire a person who is hard-working and driven. And I admire someone who has not had things handed to them, but who worked hard to be where they are.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I used to swim competitively, and of course swimmers have to wear pretty tight and form fitting suits. I was at a swim meet one time, and I was all ready to go for the race. I got up to the block, got set, and right before the gun went off, I rocked back just a bit. And that was all it took. My suit nearly split in half, and everyone got to see my full rear-view, so to speak. Needless to say, I did not win that race, but I did get a good laugh!
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would take a ten year ocean voyage around the world. I would stop at every country for a few weeks or months at a time, and learn about the local customs and culture of each area, and truly immerse myself within each country. I have always wanted to see the world, and this would be an outstanding way to do so.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I want to pass on to my children my passion for sports, my self-drive, and my enjoyment of travel. I think these are key things that make my life so happy and great, and I would want them to utilize these aspects of life to make their own memories, and to have a successful life.
