Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I moved to a new school in 5th grade. I think as a child you don't really understand moving. It can be a whole mixed bag of emotions. I did not understand at the time what moving meant, but it was something I remember vividly. I remember the first day of school and the new people I met, and my first real "best" friend. All these memories came out of moving, and it's something I will never forget.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I would have to say it is my sister. Even though she is younger than me, she is a person who can be the voice of reason in situations. I also am the older brother, so giving the best advice I have to offer her is important. I want her to succeed in life having the best possible knowledge. The older we both get, the less our ages become a factor in just being good siblings to one another.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I value an honest person. I believe with honesty comes other traits as well, like respect and sincerity. If you are an honest person that means you're not afraid to speak your mind to someone and tell them the truth. I believe that people should speak honestly even if it's not favorable. It not only shows that someone respects another person, but that they care.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?My friend was planning a surprise birthday party for me, but I had found out previously it was going to happen. I told everyone at the party to hide in another room so that when she opened the door the apartment was empty. Her face when she yells surprise when opening the door and no one was in there was priceless.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to the Mediterranean and India. I think not only are the cultures full of history and there are so many things to see, but the food would be amazing to try. They are so different from the US; it would be interesting to see the contrasting ways of life.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I think right now I would try and pass on bicycling to my children. I got into the sport much later and I think it was something I am the most comfortable with considering my lack of coordination in other sports. I would buy their first road bike and we could do it as a family type thing.
