What is your most memorable childhood experience?My most memorable childhood memory is learning how to swim at a local recreation center. I had been in pools before but I never knew how to swim. This was the first time that I can remember overcoming a fear and the subsequent feeling of accomplishment.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?The family member that I identify with the most is my grandfather. He was a very humble man with a positive disposition. I don't ever remember seeing him angry or frustrated. I also believe that I get my humility from him.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?The character trait that I admire the most is selflessness. It is very difficult to put the concerns of someone else over your own. It is also very powerful because of the positive impact it can have on people.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?The funniest thing that ever happened to me is also one of the most embarrassing. It happened during a youth basketball game. I must have not been paying attention before I went into the game, but on my first play I stole the ball and scored in the wrong basket.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If money and time weren't an issue I would visit Haiti. The country has an interesting history and culture. It is also in need of a lot of development. I would love to be able to work on a project that contributes to the development of Haiti.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on respect for the perspectives of others. I believe that effective communication is the key to resolving most problems. This is much easier when people are willing to listen and try to understand opposing points of view.
