Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?Nearly every summer my family would all pack into our van early in the morning and head to the Rocky Mountains. We would spend a week in the mountains fishing, hiking, rock climbing and golfing (when I got a little older). I remember this the most because of the amount of fun time I got to spend with my family.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify most with my sister. We spent five years or more living in the same room when we were children and we bonded closely. We also both love music and love to sing. We spent several years from our teen years through college playing and singing together as well as recording an album together along with other band members. We also have very similar personalities which helps us get along well.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Empathy, compassion, energy and humor. I love to be around people who tend to see the glass half full rather than half empty.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?The first thing that comes to mind is a very awkward but funny experience at work. I work with seniors 60 years and over. I was trying to cheer up a patient who had recently had a traumatic experience with her hospital stay and rehab process. I told her a funny joke and her response was to start chuckling, she tried to hold it in and passed gas. I turned red and started laughing and she just busted out laughing out loud; the first time I'd heard her laugh in over a month!
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would take a month long trip across the UK, Ireland and western Europe, exploring the small towns and cultures throughout. I would visit my exchange student host family in Belgium as well.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would love to pass on to them the skill and love of music including singing and playing instruments. Emotionally, I would love to help my son to become more empathetic, respectful and caring to everyone.
