Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? When I was ten my traveling baseball team made it to Nationals. We traveled to a different city for the tournament. It was fun to meet kids our age from all over the country. A tradition for the tournament is to trade pins. We collected as many as we could, and pinned them on our towels to bring home.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I closely identify with my brother. He and I are close enough in age so that we grew up interested in a lot of the same things. Sports, music, cars, just to name a few. I think being my only sibling, it was he who I looked up to the most when I didn't want to ask mom or dad.
What character traits do you admire in an individual? The most admirable character trait for me is personality. Someone without a personality becomes boring to talk to. A good sense of humor is a plus too. Someone who is caring, non-judgmental, and spontaneous is also a person I admire.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Although a vague memory, it happened when I was five. My family was on a trip in Florida. We spent the day collecting shells along the beach. A storm rolled in, so we packed up and headed back to our room. After spending some time cleaning shells, I wanted to see the waves crashing on the rocks. I took off running through the condo towards the balcony, only to find out the screen door was still shut! I bounced off and landed on my back, only to my family's enjoyment.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would like to visit Rome some day. The history and culture there are so interesting and well documented. To see where gladiators fought, and where some of the first written laws were created, I think would be amazing! I'd like to tie in a trip there with Greece. The remaining architecture is astounding. To see the birthplace of the Olympics is a dream!
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on many things to my children, besides genetics. An exuberance for life would be one. Living every moment to the fullest! A sense on respect and trustworthiness would be good as well. Those are two things I've found in life that take you far. Whether it's in the locker room or board room, people who are respected and trusted have the world available to them. Last but not least, I would like my kids to be kind and caring individuals to everyone they meet.
