Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience was living with my aunt and uncle for the summer. They are both veterinarians and have their own clinic so I would go into the clinic during emergency hours and assist them with operations and caring for animals. They also have a hobby farm and I was in charge of caring for the sheep and horses. I learned how to ride horses during this time and enjoy doing it to this day. Their children, my cousins, were young so I helped care for them at night as well. Being able to work with animals and feel as if the farm was my own was very rewarding.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I most closely identify with my mother. She is very smart and I go to her for advice when I need it. She is always willing to help, even when she doesn't have the means or ability to do so. Our personalities are very similar and we enjoy going out to happy hour once a month to catch up on our jobs and lives.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire someone who enjoys the company of others but is willing to be independent and be open about problems or how they feel. Complete honesty is hard to find and I admire those who have it.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?In college I went to a conference where other students from around the world attended and did a mock United Nations assembly. During the conference I met new people and we explored the city together. The last night I was with two of them and we went out on the town but got lost. At first it was scary but we walked around the city for hours during the night. We decided to sit down at a park bench and just hang out and talk. We were out so late that the sun began to rise the next morning. Now able to see the buildings around us we realized we were sitting two blocks away from the hotel. We laughed about it and I still am connected with those people and we recall the experiences we had.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to rustic Spain and stay in a small village in the mountains where I could ride horseback with a significant other. I love mountain scenery and have always wanted to travel to Spain. The culture is very appealing to me and I have had authentic Spanish food and it is delicious. With the right person and time and money not an issue I could stay there forever.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass along curiosity. Curiosity drives innovation and gets people to think or try new things that they otherwise wouldn't. I would want them to be safe but they need to try things for themselves and develop their own opinions.
