Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? The most memorable childhood experience I have is the first year I was invited to play on the All-stars in baseball. Our Little League team had just finished the season with a championship, and this was my first time being invited to the Little League All-stars tournament. I was overwhelmed with joy, for they had me as the starting pitcher and I was a year younger than most of the people in that age grouping. Later, to our disappointment we lost in the second round, ending our Little League season that year.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?The family member I most closely identify with would have to be my mother. She has always been there, hopefully she will always be there for me. My mother is best described as a giver, whether it be a donation to a church or anyone needing help. I hope to live a carefree life and that I will be able to give to so many people as she does.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Throughout my life, I have learned through my experiences certain traits of people that I appreciate. One of the most important traits that I have learned is to be humble. Any person who strives to be someone or something should have a certain aspect of humility. Without being humble I feel that others won't be able to affiliate or give respect to a conceited person who strives only for oneself. Being able to take one's greatest accomplishments just to set them aside to be helpful to others is very gracious and respectable. Surely, I am not the only one to make mistakes in my life and without forgiveness I would not be able to move on. Even in the most dire circumstances, at some point if someone is unable to let go, they might be doing more harm to themselves in comparison to what was the initial issue. This is why I can appreciate people who are able to make this essential transition to forgive mostly because I know people who forgave me in the past and have grown a more in-depth relationship with them. Lastly, the best word for describing a trait to get a glimpse into the understanding of a person's feelings and thoughts would have to be "Empathy." In order to find someone worthwhile talking to anywhere in the world, understanding a person's emotions can greatly impact the conversations had. Empathy describes to me the passions towards the things they aspire to. These are just a few character traits that I appreciate the most in individuals that I know. Also while meeting new acquaintances finding any of these qualities can make for a more complete and detailed experience of someone's life. Thus making it easier to trust and perhaps creating a long term relationship.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I feel that this question could be answered with an embarrassing story. One of the funnier things that have happened to me was when I was pranked by some of my friends who thought it would be real fun to take everything out of my locker including my towel and clothing. I was then forced run to my coach's office naked and ask for a towel. This unfortunately turned into our next practice being full of conditioning.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Alaska, I've always enjoyed vacationing there and feel that home away from home feeling. I believe there is no better place to be fishing, crabbing and shrimping than Alaska. I would go for a couple months at a time if I could as long as it was summertime. I'm not the biggest fan of freezing cold weather so winter wouldn't be the best option.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?A bright future, full of life experiences and all doorways open to them. I hope them to be intelligent and well-rounded to be able to reach the path they are looking for. I also wish for them to never have financial worries or feel strapped down to one place.
