Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I remember when my family used to take me to Chuck E Cheese for my birthday. We always invited my whole class and all my friends so there were a lot of people there. I loved video games as a kid, and we always had a blast. My friends and I would play the co-op games together, and try to win prizes at the counter.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I am most like my mom. We are fairly reserved and don't talk that often in groups, but if you get us alone, we can go on for a while. We are both thoughtful and introverted. She has been shy her whole life and I feel that I am the same way. But we're also very well organized and easygoing.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire responsibility and mutual respect. I think that a good deal of empathy goes a long way. If you can put yourself in someone else's place and know that you are treating them how you would want to be treated, you are on the way to being a good person. This takes discipline and unselfishness.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?One night, about a month after I got my driver's permit, I was driving home with my dad and my sister in the car with me. They were talking, and the radio was on, and I was a little distracted by it all. When we pulled into the driveway, I forgot to switch into park, and instead of hitting the brakes, I punched the gas. We plowed straight through the wall. The car was okay. We were all okay. The wall was not. I had to work with my dad all the following week to rebuild it.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I'd go to southeast Asia and Europe first and foremost. I've always been interested in the food in these places, and I know some people in Asia that we could stay with (namely Thailand and Vietnam). Also I love the coast and being near the ocean with all the abundance of seafood that you can find.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I hope to pass on a sense of social responsibility. In my opinion, a lot of kids are treated like royalty by their parents and they grow up to be selfish people. I would like my children to feel responsible for the things they do and how their actions affect others.
