Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I hit a game winning home run in a championship baseball game.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My sister, because she loves the outdoors.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Intelligence, perseverance, work ethic.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I cannot think of anything tremendously funny that happened to me. One time I stopped to get gasoline. I went outside, swiped my credit card, put the pump in my tank, and then went back into my car. I received a call on my cell phone. The gas was still pumping and I was inside of my car talking on my cell phone. After a few minutes, someone behind me honked their horn. Without thinking I started my car and proceeded to drive away. Except the gas nozzle was still in my car. The connection between the nozzle and the pump was severed and gas started spewing out. When I saw this, beads of sweat went down my forehead. The store manager came out. Long story short, he said that this wasn't the first time that it had happened. I gave him my address, he sent a bill for ~ $100, and I paid the bill. It wasn't funny back then, but it is funny now.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I love traveling. I have traveled to 30+ countries. I would love to travel to the UK and Australia. But those countries are expensive. I would also like to travel to Eastern Europe, particularly the Balkans. Actually, I just returned from a vacation to Croatia and Slovenia. Those countries are beautiful. UK and Australia are in many ways more modern - especially in terms of infrastructure - than the U.S. Countries in Eastern Europe, by contrast, feel more unexplored and are great places to escape to.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?Values. I was an Eagle Scout and still remember the values of trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave and reverent. Similarly, the values of the military are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage.
