Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experiences all involve playing or watching hockey. Getting up early and playing on our backyard rink with the neighborhood kids is something I will always remember. Also, attending hockey games with my dad was a big part of my childhood.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I closely identify with my father because of the fantastic bond between father and son we have had. It helps that we are both very similar in every way. We have always enjoyed sports together, whether it be playing or watching, sports have always kept us close.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire an individual who has a positive outlook at all times. Too often in this world you will find people who are always down and negative. I appreciate someone who can find the good in things and look forward in life. I strive to achieve this.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?The funniest thing to ever happen to me involved me improv acting in front of a group of about fifty people. I had no experience in this type of acting so I just went for it and somehow had the entire crowd hysterically laughing within minutes.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would rent a large van and take my family on a cross country road trip through the entire United States. I think our country has so much to offer that we could drive for weeks and still not get to everything. I also enjoy the closeness experienced in riding in the same vehicle for vacations.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on to my children a simple concept that my mother always told me: treat others the way you would want to be treated. It seems so simple, yet there are so many people who do not abide by this. I think it would be important for my children to understand they are not better than others, but to also be confident and understand nobody else is above them either.
