Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? When I was very young I did not have many friends and I went to school about an hour away from my house. I used to play with action figures with my little brother for hours, probably days at a time. He was my best friend. I also remember watching Clifford for hours on end because we did not have much money at the time. My mom and dad finally got better jobs and due to my mom going to lots of conferences, I have been fortunate enough to go to beautiful places-California, Hawaii, Arizona. Lastly, as a kid and when I got into high school, I was a very good athlete. My father encouraged me to join the football team and I was a natural. We went 12-1 in 8th grade and my final year of high school we made the playoffs.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify with my mother most. She is a classic all-American pull yourself up by your own bootstraps story. She is the smartest, most accomplished person I know and I have a huge shadow to fill. She spoils me rotten-even now, but mostly against my own wishes. I have inherited her gracious, hardworking nature and her intellect. We also both tan very well!
What character traits do you admire in an individual? To be honest, as a guy I always admired other guys who could talk to women effortlessly. Funny enough, my friends say the same about me! I am drawn to anyone who is very social, fun, outgoing and genuine.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I have hundreds of stories, but I will only give one - I have to have something to tell if we ever meet! One night my best friend and I drove down to the seashore. We ended-up with no money and went to my folks' place for the weekend. When we got to the second floor where the kitchen is, the phone rang. I asked who it was and they asked me who I was. I rattled off some names, and the person said no to all of them and hung up. I just graduated from college and I still was a bit "more aware" of my surroundings because of having lived in a bad neighborhood, so I immediately became paranoid. I turned to my best friend and said "Somebody is in the house!" I somehow gave him a huge butcher knife and a huge pair of scissors. I grabbed the same. We went up to the third floor he went to the guest room, I walked into my parents room. My friend saw me freeze and walked in. There was a bum/homeless man drunk and sprawled out on my parents' bed with Batman Begins playing! I was like "What are you doing here!?" The bum opened his eyes. He saw two grown men, with large butcher knives, scissors, and shirtless. Yes, we were shirtless the whole time as well. Don't ask. My friend banged on the door "Get out of here!" The bum replied "Roll the dice." "What?" He said again "Roll the dice." I gave him one last chance before I called the police. I answered the door shirtless, with a butcher knife, and took the officer upstairs. My friend was sitting on the second floor, shirtless, butcher knife in one hand, Sailor Jerry and Coke in the other, watching Batman Begins. He said "Officer, the bad man is upstairs." We had the bum removed. He apologized and recycled his bottle of Popov vodka.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If time and money were not an issue, I would finally backpack through Europe. I always thought people who wanted to just travel and not work were pretty lame but I get it now. I am a little bit more successful now and once I scrounge up some money and accrue some vacation time, I will backpack through Europe. I also like Tennessee, South Carolina and Texas. One day I will do the cross country road trip when I get some free time.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I want to pass on to them a legacy of hard work and my love and support. I do not know if I will ever get married but I have always had large family gatherings and everyone is welcome in my family.
