What is your most memorable childhood experience?When I was six years old, my family moved from Puerto Rico to the US. It was a very impactful experience for me because I was forced to learn a new language while still continuing to learn Spanish. This experience proved very enriching as I am now fully bilingual.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My mother is the heart and soul of our family. Growing up, she showed me unlimited love and affection which fostered an intimate bond between us. As an adult I consider her not only my mother, but also my best friend.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?For me, a smile is one of the most important character traits of any individual. A brightly lit face has a lasting impact not only when forming first impressions, but also has the ability to immediately lighten the mood in any room.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Growing up, my father used to spend hours upon hours in front of the television. My mother, sister and I connected in a different way. We would tell each other silly jokes and explode into fits of laughter. My father, however, was not laughing. Instead of joining in on the fun, he would turn the volume of the television up but we would only laugh louder and louder. After he could no longer compete with our noise he would yell at us and we would go into my mom's room where we would continue the party.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Venice, Italy is my dream vacation spot. I've seen images of Italy in movies since I was a little boy and have always been interested in Italian food and culture.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?In my opinion, the most important aspect any parent can pass on to their kids is the ability to love unconditionally. Showing compassion, affection and concern for their peers and fellow man would be a priority.
