Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?Biking. If I wanted to do anything in the summer I had to bike to my destination. Most of the time it was several miles to my friends' houses, the park to play baseball/football, or into town to see a movie. All us kids just endlessly biking without fatigue. I remember that the most.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I closely identify with my father. He has been a great role model growing up. He is always willing to help others regardless of the situation, and volunteers actively in the community. He is a constant role model. My father is a great listener and allows you to come to your own conclusions. He taught me to question everything and to learn from it.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Adaptability. Not being stuck in their own ways and routine. I admire those who can effortlessly accept life as it comes to them. Being able to adapt is a key to keeping a stress free life. My father always taught me that "If something is out of your control, it's not worth stressing over" and to "Not stress the small stuff." Adaptability helps keep your life stress-free and happy.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? It's hard to pinpoint the funniest thing that has ever happened to me. One that stands out is when I was working retail after school. Several coworkers and members of management had asked me why I was walking all around the store dressed as a cowboy. Confused, I explained that I hadn't left where I had been working in hours. Later we came to find out that there was a man who looked eerily similar to me, shopping. I've never had so many people question my sanity or honesty at one time, before or after that incident. I couldn't help but laugh at everyone as they questioned me about my cowboy doppelganger.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to Australia, South and Central America, Europe, and Africa. I feel like it's almost my responsibility to see and do all the things that I am able to. We're only around to absorb so much for so long, and I'd like to take full advantage of it. I'd love to eventually see all of these places and experience them first hand.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?Learn for yourself. Don't let others put you in a box and tell you what to believe in, what to like, and what is cool. Be yourself. Everyone is going to think differently and that is okay. Explore everything everywhere. Retain as much as you can. Share with others and accept everyone. You get as much out of life as you put into it.
