Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? When I was younger my grandmother lived with us. After school I would be so excited to get home to see her because she had such a sweet and caring personality. I never saw her upset or unfair, so she was always fun to be around. Since she retired and moved south for the warmer climate I sure miss her.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I would say I am closest to my mother, because now that I no longer live with her it is easy to see she misses me being around all the time. I think this shows emotion; and when you are exposed like that it helps break the ice to topics that would otherwise be hard to bring up.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire when people stay positive even when faced with rather tough situations. To clarify, I consider a tough situation to be one that requires the sacrifice of things you enjoy for the things you do not enjoy as much as this is required for the sake of others. For example, and certainly not limited to, a single parent raising a child working two jobs to make ends meet. It is obvious this is a stressful situation but when the person stays positive and upbeat, that takes a special kind of person.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?My granduncle would participate in water skiing, and when he grew older he came to own his own boat at his lakeside home. I would travel to his house to visit and try out I the sport. Every time I rose up I would go down. I could not hold my posture. The only excitement my granduncle had was not rolling his eyes at how frequently he would start and stop the boat.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would be most interested in visiting Dubai. Their economy is very strong, the city is tourist-friendly and the weather is always warm. The marvels you would find out there are simple stunning; for example the world's tallest building or island-sized man made landscapes. Part of the trip would be to fly with Emirates because the luxury is well known, making for a comfortable flight.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on the attitude that hard work does pay off in the end. While it is true that short-term work does have an immediate return, the long-term results are what you want to stay after. The end more than justifies the means. Discipline and a never ending thirst for improvement are important life-long lessons.
