Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? The first one that comes to mind is when I was thirteen, playing soccer. I always liked playing defense and since I started playing, I had never scored a goal. It was the last year that we would get to play as a team since all my teammates were headed to different schools and travel teams. We went to the regional championships against our rival sister team and the game ended in a long shootout of penalty kicks to end the tied game. All the offense had gone and we were still evenly matched. It came down to me and I made a brilliantly simple shot by faking out the goalie and the ball slowly rolled into the bottom left shelf and bounced off the post into the goal. My team came and tackled me. It was the first and only time I've been lifted into the air and carried on the shoulders of my teammates.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I am certainly my father's son, but my mom is the most amazing person I've ever met. I believe I act like my dad, but my train of thought and demeanor are much more like that of my mom. She is very logical, goal oriented, and quite multi-skilled. Her ability to manage multiple projects effectively has always been inspiring to me.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Honesty, integrity, and passion are the first that come to mind. Honesty means not having to live a lie or forcing anyone else to. Integrity means never having to live in fear, and is a source of inner strength that supports anyone you affect. Passion is something that can hardly be taught but is the most powerful of all human traits in my opinion.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Once, a blind man asked me for directions on a very large college campus. Luckily we both laughed about it.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I tend to travel often and thoroughly enjoy Europe. If I could go anywhere tomorrow, it would probably be Madrid, Spain. The people are very laid back and the weather is better than California.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would hope they have my relentless motivation.
