Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? One summer during elementary school my family went on a road trip for the entire summer. We traveled from our home to Orlando, to Baltimore, to the Grand Canyon, to San Francisco, and everywhere in-between. We visited over thirty states and many national parks. That entire summer spent with my family on that road trip is my most memorable childhood experience.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My younger brother. He is near me in age, and we always went through everything together growing up. When we get together now, our mom likes to show off how easily we can finish each other's sentences just as a party trick. We are just incredibly close and we are two very similar people.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Perseverance, integrity, optimism, dedication, self-discipline, generosity, empathy, humility, and responsibility.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?One time my unsuspecting brother turned the hot water handle on our kitchen sink and as soon as he touched it the handle shot off into the air. After it shot off, extremely hot water fountained up all the way to the ceiling. My brother tried to cover it with his hands but it was too hot and he couldn't hold his hands there. He was yelling for help and my mother came sprinting in. She ran in so fast and water had sprayed all over the kitchen so as she heroically ran in to help my brother her feet hit a puddle. She was running so fast that her feet slipped straight into the air and she did half of a back flip. It happened so fast and looked so perfect. It looked like something straight out of the Three Stooges, and as soon as we saw she was ok my brother and I fell over laughing while she cursed at us for laughing. But we couldn’t stop. It had all been too perfect.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If time and money were not an issue I would want to travel to Mount Everest. I have always wanted to try and climb it but I have very limited hiking experience so I would need to learn how to hike smaller mountains first and slowly work my way up. Mountain climbing can be an expensive hobby, especially as you take on harder and harder climbs. I have always wanted to try to climb Mount Everest because it stands as a true test of mind over matter, and I just want to see if I would be able to make it to the top.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would want to pass on my ability to roll with the punches. In most situations I can remain very optimistic, sometimes to such an extent that it annoys those around me. I don’t get upset or worked up very easily and I don’t find it hard to forgive people. In general this makes me a very easygoing person and that is something I would like to pass on to my kids.
