| What is your most memorable childhood experience? | My most memorable childhood experience was going on a family vacation to Cancun over winter break. It was my first time leaving the country, so that was exciting. We stayed at a resort and spent the days hanging out at the pool, playing beach volleyball, and exploring the city. I went scuba diving and got to see some sunken ships, which was pretty cool and a little creepy. |
| What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I would say that the family member that I most closely identify with is my uncle. We are both athletic, enjoy doing things outdoors, spending time with our family, traveling, and learning new things. We like to email back and forth every now and then, asking about what we think about an interesting topic or something that has happened recently. It's always a fun time when we get to see each other at family gatherings. |
| What character traits do you admire in an individual? | The character traits that I admire in an individual are confidence, respect, and perseverance. I admire when someone can make a lofty goal, come up with a well thought-out plan, and then take the appropriate steps to reach their goal. |
| What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | A couple of my friends took me out to a piano bar for my birthday and paid the piano player to get me up on stage. I am usually reserved and don't enjoy being the center of attention very often, but my friends tipped the piano man a lot, so I begrudgingly got on the stage. When I got up there, the piano guy told me that I had to strut back and forth across the stage doing my best catwalk routine. Then the piano guy starts playing the song I would be doing my routine to, which was "I'm Too Sexy," which has the opening line of, "I'm too sexy for my shirt." I have no idea why, but the first and only thought that came to my mind was that I needed to start stripping my shirt off while strutting across the stage. Much to the entertainment of my friends and the rest of the piano bar, I start slowly taking shirt off. Once my shirt was off, I decided that I would ball it up and throw it to my friends, but when I went to throw it, it unfurled and ended up knocking over a full drink on the table next to my friends. Luckily, they were good sports, and the rest of the “routine” finished without incident. Since I have such great friends, they got it all on video. |
| If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I really enjoy traveling! After I graduated from college, I backpacked around Europe for four months. I am torn about where I would travel if I had the time and money. On one hand I would really like to go to Singapore and then travel around to some of the other Indonesian islands. I haven't ventured to that part of the world yet, and I am interested in experiencing that culture. On the other hand, it is a dream of mine to go space one day. I think it would be an amazing and humbling experience. |
| When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | If/when I have children, I would like to pass on to them a sense of adventure, curiosity, and open mindedness. I think that would be a good starting place for living an interesting life. I have been told on multiple occasions that I have really nice eyelashes, so they can have those, too. |
