Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? When I was in elementary school, I had a classmate who seldom talked with other children. And her parents had divorced. Once, she and I were on duty for cleaning the classroom after school. Then we worked on homework together. The sky had gone dark and she was a little afraid, so I accompanied her home. Like opening a door, she talked a lot to me, about her family, about the future and the boy she liked, although she was always introverted and quiet before. In front of her home, she turned back to me and said “Thank you.” At that very moment, I saw warm tears in her eyes. I would never forget that scene. Since then, I am always gentle and warmly caring of others.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My father. I inherited many things from my father. We both like sports, we like basketball, mathematics and physics. People say we look alike, and we both speak to others in a friendly manner. My father usually looks at things with speculative thinking of criticism. And this type of thinking influenced me a lot. When I was a child, my father and I would go for morning exercise. I remember my father asked me a question: did I know why the father is always a little faster than the son when they take a walk, but have a similar speed when they jog at a steady pace? At that moment, I could not answer that question. Several years later, when I graduated from high school and finished college physics courses by myself, my father remembered that question and told me that our legs were experiencing a free vibration when we took a walk, but experiencing a forced vibration when we jogged at a steady pace. And different physics equations imply the distinct effect of body height on the speed. Parents are beyond question the first teachers of children. Everything my father said or did shaped my personality.
What character traits do you admire in an individual? The character traits I admire most are being resolute in your choices, and having a mighty heart. Our lives are made up of countless choices, However when people face some choices, they are often irrational. This is just human nature. People are driven by their emotion. No matter how much knowledge and skill you have, when you face life's dilemmas, this terrible mindset will let you make a wrong choice without thinking. We should invest in our mind to catch opportunities in the future. When you finish your job, you could just shut down the video game or website and learn several pages of specialty knowledge. A rational person will make this investment.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Once I found up a cell phone and I wanted to return it to its owner. I found the number of the owner's sister and called her. The owner's sister answered the call and I explained that I found her brother’s phone. She said wait a minute please, and then hung up. One minute later, she called back and said to me: "Hi brother! Your phone has been found!”
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Bolivia is a mirror of heaven. Any compliment is lost on it.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I will pass on to my children the attitude to treat things with a speculative thinking of criticism. And I will tell them to be always gentle and warmly caring of others.
