Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience would have to be when I placed third in a wrestling tournament when I was sixteen. I have always been a competitive athlete but this experience meant more because of the road I had to travel to get there. When I was fifteen I suffered a severe back injury playing football that required surgery and months of rehab. That following year I went from being restricted to no sports and only lifting ten pounds to being undefeated as a junior in high school wrestling for nearly the entire year, and then going forward to placing third in nationals. I am a firm believer that hard work always pays off.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My brother and I are best friends. I was his best man and he will be mine someday. We aren't twins but at times it feels like we are because we can honestly finish each other's sentences. We started off as normal kids, always fighting about everything, but then grew up to respect and love one another. We aren't able to spend much time together now because of work, and just life in general, but when we are together it's never anything but good memories. It's always a good feeling to know you have at least one person in this world that will always have your back and be there for you.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Intelligence, humor, and kindness are what I admire in people. Education is extremely important. Life throws you a lot of curve balls and being equipped with the proper knowledge to make good decisions is a must. Kindness and humor are both important because being able to make people laugh and smile when they need it is always greatly appreciated. Being that I'm a nurse, I always try to make my patients feel happy and cared for. I always try to surround myself with people that make me laugh and that I can have a well-rounded conversation with.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I really try to enjoy life so it's hard to pick out one example of the funniest thing that's happened to me. If I had to choose one example it would have to be when I decided to go out with some friends from the hospital and I had maybe one or two drinks too many and I made a complete fool of myself on the dance floor. I literally danced with every person at this bar but everyone was laughing and having a good time, so I like to think it was a success.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Wouldn't this be wonderful! I'd travel everywhere. I work in a field that gets to experience many different cultures. I also live in a city that is extremely diverse, which has opened my eyes to a world that I'd like to truly experience in person. I enjoy trying new foods and experiencing new things. The first place I would go is to Italy and Rome to experience the architecture and eat some of the best pizza in the world!
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? When I have children I'll pass on to them the golden rule and hard work. You should always treat every person the way that you would want them to treat you. Hard work always pays off. You have to be willing to give life everything you have in order to get where you want to be. My father is the hardest working man I know. We don't always see eye to eye, but he passed these things to me and I know I wouldn't be the same person today if he hadn't.
