What is your most memorable childhood experience?We spent a lot of hot summer days at the creek on our ranch in the Hill Country jumping from the rocks into the shallow clean water.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My mother because she was always there for me and she is an independent and nonjudgmental person.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I look for heroes and mentors who have done something unorthodox and reached a special level of success, despite the odds being against them from the outset.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?When I got to college I made friends with a boy in my grade on a kayaking trip. We remained friends throughout school and were even roommates. Only in my senior year did we realize we are cousins on my dad's side.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Right now I would like to go to east Asia and India because those cultures are increasingly influential in shaping modern history.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I think it would be funny to make a treasure map and hide something that children really like somewhere on our property. Then I can have a laugh from my grave at their astonished and happy faces when they discover it.
