Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?Traveling to Yellowstone National park. It was such an amazing place. Seeing Old Faithful and the Grand Prismatic Spring was so unbelievable. It blew me away and I was only 13.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I most closely identify with my mother. We have a lot of the same interests and we are both a little stubborn, very open minded, and adventurous. We also like to travel. I am very close to all my family members, but she is definitely the closest.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty, integrity, selflessness, open mindedness, and a sense of humor. Too often these days we only focus on ourselves and not trying new things. We get stuck in ruts and we become stagnant.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?My friends and I used to go to a cabin on the lake. One year we got a late start at pulling in the docks. It was mid to late October and I was standing on the dock in jeans and a hooded sweater. My friends were talking and started to get ready to pull the dock in so I turned to walk up the dock and the legs on the left side broke sending the dock careening into the lake. Needless to say I was drenched head to toe in cold water.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would probably travel through the European countries of my ancestors. I would start in Ireland, then make my way through Scotland, Wales, England, Finland, Norway, Germany, and the Ukraine. I think that it would be amazing to see where I come from, and just to visit these places to see the cities my family came from.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on my integrity. It is something that the world seems to be lacking. No one wants to do the right thing when no one is watching. People like to take shortcuts and it shows. Instead of things being built sturdy and strong we try to save a dollar and use cheap materials and cut corners.
