Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience was when I was about 10. My friend and I told his uncle we would help brand his cattle. We drove about 3 hours up into the mountains and I ended up getting sick. After I had some sprite to try to calm my stomach, we started working on the cows. My job was to give them the necessary vaccines based on their tag numbers. By the time we had finished the whole day had passed, so I asked my friend's uncle how many cows there were. We processed 300 head of cattle as 10-year-old kids! That’s just insane!
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My sister and I haven’t always been super close. When we were young we’d always fight and argue about everything. It wasn’t until about the time I turned 20 that we started getting along again. I was gone to college for a year by then and she called me and told me she missed me, which meant a lot coming from her. To this day my sister and I are best friends, she calls me all the time to tell me how proud she is that I’m in the military.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I think some important traits are honesty and a great sense of humor. Honesty is always a given because it makes things run more smoothly in any situation. Being honest helps not only short term, but also in the long run when someone looks back to who they can rely on. If someone has a good sense of humor, they’ll have no problem with self-confidence. Being the center of attention, telling jokes, laughing, and just having a good time always helps you feel better.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? When I was 17 years old and I graduated high school, my mom threw us a huge party. All my friends were there, there were party games, all the things I knew I wanted. Later that night my friend bet me I couldn’t do 50 mph down the driveway on my four-wheeler. Not only had it rained the day prior, but the ground was also already rock solid with ruts from vehicles coming and going. I took off down the driveway as fast as I could and when I reached about halfway, I found myself sideways and in the air. The four-wheeler rolled right over the top of me and the only thing I asked when my friends came to my rescue was, “Did that look cool?”
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If I had all the time and money that I needed to travel to a place I love it would be Switzerland. Now I’ve never been there but you don’t hear of any crime, the landscape is probably the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and I’ve heard that the people who live there are just the most interesting people ever.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I’d like to pass on my great work ethic and personality. In regards to physical items I’d like for my children to keep my dad's wallet and pocket knife that were given to me when he passed away.
